Creating Database Components
Before creating any database components it is important to plan the
organizational layout which will represent those operations that RiskWin will be used to manage.
The first consideration is to identify the Desks and Portfolios that are to be represented within RiskWin. Since it is the names of these Desks and Portfolios which will frequently be
used to aggregate positions in Synthetic Portfolios, it is important to think
about a consistent naming scheme for these components from the very beginning.
The next main components to be identified are the currencies that will be used
for the types of securities that will be represented in RiskWin. It is possible to have as few as two currencies initially.
The World Variable components that are related to these currencies also need to be identified
along with the World State component to which these World Variables will be assigned.
In addition, it is necessary to identify the initial instances of the
following that may be required:
- Credit Ratings;
- Counterparties;
- Holiday Calendars.
