Creating Positions

There are two types of Positions: Actual Positions and What-If Positions. This section will describe only how to create Actual Positions. [To create What-If Positions see Creating What-If Positions.]

The only way to create an Actual Position is to create a Trade and allocate it to an Actual Portfolio. This creates an Actual Position in the specified Actual Portfolio.

There are a variety of ways in which the Create Trade dialog can be invoked. The easiest way is to select "Trade Security" from the main "Portfolios" menu which displays an empty dialog that can be filled with the desired trade details:

Once these trade details are entered, selecting "OK" will display a Trade Confirmation dialog:

Selecting "Confirm" from this dialog creates an Actual Position which is LONG 50,000 contracts in the Standard Option CAD_DEM_P_120 and allocates it to the Actual Portfolio A_CURCYOPT.
